The Inspiration behind the Hiding Place Collection
Share
Hi friends,
Today I just wanted to give a bit of background behind my new Hiding Place Collection.
I've been reflecting a lot lately on how the Lord is my refuge and place of safety. I have a little prayer book that I read from almost every day, and there's a Scripture that was standing out to me from Psalm 32 that reads, "You are a Hiding Place for me; You preserve me from trouble..."
I'll be honest. Life has felt pretty heavy lately. Some days I have just felt so surrounded by difficult circumstances. But God is good and He keeps reminding me in prayer that I'm safe and loved in Him and I don't need to worry because He will take care of things.
I like taking walks in our community garden and it's also been a source for inspiration. I've been seeing a lot of little flittering butterflies -- especially those sweet, soft white cabbage butterflies. (I tucked a few of them into some of the paintings in this collection -- can you find them all?)
The garden has also been changing a lot with the weather and I've noticed the flowers taking on a beautiful Fall color palette. I even decided to add some subtle purple tomatoes in the largest piece --also inspired by the bounty of the community garden!
Two of the pieces in this collection feature hand-written Scripture verses along with painted wooden frames.
Filled with vining black-eyed-susans, dahlias, phlox, and bell flowers, the Hiding Place Collection has been sort of a peaceful "retreat" for me. I really hope you like it too.
Thank you so much for being here and encouraging me in my artwork!
With love,
P.S.
